Solan District Commissioner Manmohan Sharma on Tuesday underscored the critical importance of structured training programmes in ensuring an error-free execution of Census 2027, while presiding over a three-day training session organised for the upcoming nationwide enumeration exercise.
Addressing the programme, Sharma provided detailed technical and practical guidance to 38 field trainers appointed across Solan district for Census 2027. He stressed that all participating trainers must thoroughly understand every aspect of the training to eliminate operational challenges during the census process. The initiative is aimed at strengthening preparedness and ensuring seamless data collection at the grassroots level.
Highlighting the sensitivity of the exercise, the District Commissioner reiterated that all information collected during the census will remain strictly confidential. He appealed to residents of the district to extend full cooperation by providing accurate and complete information to census officials, enabling precise and reliable data compilation. Sharma also called upon officials to carry out their responsibilities with utmost dedication and integrity.
In a significant development, he announced that Census 2027 will introduce a self-enumeration system for the first time. Under this method, individuals will be able to submit their information independently through a designated web portal, marking a shift toward digital participation in the national data-gathering process.
The training programme featured sessions conducted by Master Trainer Dr Naresh from Government College Nalagarh and Rupa Kaith from Government College Solan, who imparted essential knowledge and operational insights to the field trainers.
Additional District Commissioner Solan and Census Nodal Officer Rahul Jain, along with district census in-charge Komal Garg and Priyanka Bhardwaj, were also present during the session, reinforcing administrative coordination for the large-scale exercise.
The training initiative signals a decisive step toward enhancing accuracy, transparency, and efficiency in Census 2027, a critical national exercise that underpins policy planning and governance frameworks.
