India U-18 Hockey Teams Set for Crucial Australia Series Ahead of Asia Cup in Bhopal
India’s U-18 men’s and women’s hockey teams will face Australia in a four-match series in Bhopal from May 15–20, 2026. The exposure tour is a crucial preparation phase ahead of the U-18 Asia Cup, helping coaches finalize squads and test players under international pressure.
The matches are strategically scheduled to test both squads under competitive international conditions ahead of the U-18 Asia Cup in Kakamigahara, Japan, later this month. The Indian Women’s U-18 team will begin their campaign on May 15 at 19:00 hrs, followed by fixtures on May 17 at 17:00 hrs, May 18 at 19:00 hrs, and the final match on May 20 at 08:00 hrs.
The Indian Men’s U-18 team will also open their series on May 15, playing at 17:00 hrs. Their second match is scheduled for May 17 at 19:00 hrs, followed by the third game on May 18 at 17:00 hrs. The final encounter will take place on May 20 at 10:00 hrs, concluding the series.
Men’s Head Coach Sardar Singh emphasized the importance of the preparatory camp and the upcoming matches, stating that the training phase at SAI Bhopal has been highly productive. He noted that the players have adapted well to the intensity and expectations, with a strong focus placed on improving fundamentals across all positions. According to him, these efforts are essential to prepare players for the evolving demands of modern hockey and to facilitate their progression to the senior level.
He further described the matches against Australia as a critical opportunity for players to gain exposure to high-quality international competition. He highlighted that the fixtures will allow the team to test combinations, build match temperament, and identify the most suitable squad ahead of the Asia Cup.
Women’s Head Coach Rani Rampal echoed similar sentiments, describing the training camp as a constructive phase that allowed focused development of the players.
