NSE Begins Construction of New Mumbai Office, Unveils Design for BKC Headquarters
NSE has performed Bhumi Pujan for its new office building in Mumbai's BKC on an 80-year MMRDA lease. The development comes as the exchange reports a 23% rise in Q2 FY2027 net profit to Rs 2,578 crore.
NSE announced the development in an official statement, confirming that the Bhumi Pujan ceremony was held ahead of the commencement of construction work on the newly allotted land in Mumbai's prominent business district.
According to the statement, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has allotted the land to NSE on an 80-year lease. The exchange also unveiled the architectural design of the proposed building during the ceremony. The design has been prepared by architect Hafeez Contractor.
In its statement, NSE said, "This new development will support the exchange's long-term growth and expansion."
The ceremony was attended by NSE Chairperson Srinivas Injeti, Managing Director and CEO Ashish Kumar Chauhan, members of the exchange's board and senior leadership team officials.
The announcement comes alongside a strong financial performance by NSE in the second quarter of the financial year 2027. The exchange reported a 23 per cent year-on-year increase in net profit, taking it to Rs 2,578 crore. Higher transaction-related earnings and a significant reduction in expenses compared with the corresponding period last year were the primary factors behind the growth.
NSE also recorded a 9 per cent year-on-year increase in consolidated total income during the second quarter of FY2027, reaching Rs 4,554 crore against Rs 4,160 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
Revenue from transaction charges increased by 9 per cent year-on-year to Rs 3,035 crore, compared with Rs 2,789 crore previously. The growth was supported by higher trading volumes in the cash market and equity options segments.
During the quarter, the average daily turnover (ADTV) in the cash market increased 24 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,18,377 crore. In the equity options segment, ADTV measured by premium value rose 3 per cent to Rs 47,977 crore. Meanwhile, the equity futures segment recorded an ADTV of Rs 1,24,574 crore.
With its new office building planned across approximately 10,995 square metres of leased land in BKC, NSE is moving ahead with infrastructure expansion while reporting growth in profitability, consolidated income and transaction-related revenue in the second quarter of FY2027.
