Hyderabad Police Bust ₹6.78 Crore Fake Currency Racket, Four Arrested

Hyderabad Police have uncovered a ₹6.78 crore counterfeit ₹500 note racket near Ramoji Film City. Four men have been arrested after raids exposed fake currency bundles, printing equipment and an alleged scheme to impersonate police.

Hyderabad Police have busted a counterfeit currency racket involving fake ₹500 notes worth ₹6.78 crore, arresting four men during a joint operation near Ramoji Film City on November 1. The operation led to the seizure of counterfeit currency, a dummy pistol, walkie-talkies, fake identification cards and equipment allegedly used to produce forged banknotes.

During the operation, police intercepted a vehicle near Ramoji Film City and recovered ₹8 lakh worth of fake ₹500 notes. Officers also seized a dummy pistol, walkie-talkies and fake IDs from the vehicle.

Following the initial seizure, police raided a rented house in Kuntloor, where they uncovered another major stockpile of counterfeit currency. The search led to the recovery of fake currency bundles worth approximately ₹6.7 crore, along with printers and editing tools allegedly used in the production of counterfeit notes.

According to the available details, the four arrested men had learned how to scan and alter genuine currency notes by watching online videos. They allegedly used this method to create counterfeit ₹500 notes and initially attempted to sell the fake currency.
