₹842 Crore Health Scam: Prosecution Calls Rajiv Rangeela Mastermind, Opposes Bail
The ₹842 crore health scam has taken a serious turn as prosecutors oppose Rajiv Rangeela's bail in a Delhi court, alleging fake companies, domestic workers as directors, procurement manipulation and links to a suicide case.
The prosecution told the court that Rangeela had allegedly manipulated public procurement processes in collusion with government officials and siphoned off hundreds of crores of rupees. It also alleged that he concealed crucial documents and repeatedly obstructed the investigation.
The prosecution further claimed that Rangeela had appointed his domestic workers as directors of several fake companies. His name had also surfaced in a suicide case involving the director of one such company.
The prosecution alleged that Rangeela had established seven fake companies, retaining actual ownership and control while placing other people's names on official records. According to the prosecution, Rangeela himself owned F-Med, while domestic workers allegedly served as directors of his other companies.
Referring to M Sahab and Sons Private Limited, the prosecution told the court that its directors, Sunil Kumar and his father, were both domestic workers employed by Rangeela.
The prosecution also cited the suicide of a director of one of these companies. An FIR has been registered against Rangeela in connection with the case, and he has been accused of abetting suicide.
During the investigation, the deceased man's son reportedly told the police that Rangeela had fraudulently obtained his father's Aadhaar and other documents and appointed him as a director of a shell company. The company had subsequently submitted bids for the supply of linen (fabric).
According to the prosecution, when the police arrived at the man's residence to conduct a raid, he allegedly died by suicide.
The allegations presented before the Delhi court place the use of shell companies, alleged manipulation of public procurement and the concealment of documents at the centre of the ₹842 crore health scam. The prosecution has relied on these allegations while opposing Rajiv Rangeela's bail plea.
