Supreme Court Cancels Anant Singh’s Bail in Dularchand Yadav Murder Case
The Supreme Court has cancelled Anant Singh's bail in the Dularchand Yadav murder case, ordered him to surrender by December 1 and directed police to complete the investigation within four months.
The Supreme Court said the investigation into the case was still underway and that witnesses would be examined during the trial. The court indicated that the accused would have to surrender and ordered a stay on the High Court's bail order. It directed the police to complete the investigation within four months.
Anant Singh had requested the court not to direct his immediate surrender, citing his daughter's wedding. However, the Supreme Court maintained its position and set December 1 as the deadline for him to surrender.
JDU Takes Disciplinary Action Against Anant Singh
The Supreme Court's decision comes after JDU recently expelled Anant Singh from the party. The party has also written to the Speaker seeking the termination of his membership of the Bihar Legislative Assembly.
Responding to questions about the party's action, JDU National Working President Sanjay Kumar Jha said the party functions on the basis of discipline and that decisions are taken with everyone's consent. He added that Nitish Kumar gives the final approval to decisions and that members must accept them, whether they like them or not.
The action against Anant Singh followed his repeated statements against JDU candidate Neeraj Kumar during the Legislative Council (MLC) elections. Singh had campaigned extensively against Neeraj Kumar and supported Jan Suraaj candidate Anuj Singh.
Following the election, the party expelled both Anant Singh and his wife. Neeraj Kumar subsequently won the MLC election.
What Are the Allegations Against Anant Singh?
During the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, JDU fielded Anant Singh from Mokama, where he won the election.
However, the campaign was overshadowed by the murder of Dularchand Yadav on October 30. Yadav was campaigning for Piyush Priyadarshi, the Jan Suraaj Party candidate.
Anant Singh was accused of involvement in the murder and subsequently arrested. The case has since remained under investigation.
With the Supreme Court now cancelling his bail, directing him to surrender by December 1 and asking the police to complete the investigation within four months, the legal proceedings against the Mokama MLA have entered a crucial phase.
