Yogi Adityanath Highlights Women’s Safety and Empowerment on Navratri Day 3

Yogi Adityanath highlights women’s safety and empowerment on the third day of Sharadiya Navratri, citing Maa Chandraghanta’s symbolism and government schemes while contrasting the current approach with governance before 2017.
Referring to the divine form of Maa Chandraghanta, Adityanath said the goddess symbolises the radiance, dignity and indomitable courage of women. He said her divine form conveys the message that women’s safety, respect and self-esteem form the foundation of a strong and prosperous society.
Embracing this principle, the double-engine government in Uttar Pradesh, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was setting new benchmarks in women’s empowerment through good governance, the Chief Minister said.
Yogi Adityanath Targets Pre-2017 Governance
The Chief Minister said that before 2017, widespread lawlessness in Uttar Pradesh had undermined women’s safety and dignity. According to him, instead of empowering mothers and sisters, strengthening the families of those in power had been the primary objective at the time.
He contrasted that period with the initiatives undertaken by the present government, highlighting schemes aimed at supporting women and girls at different stages of life, from education and marriage to motherhood and social security.
Government Schemes for Women’s Welfare
Adityanath said the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao initiative was helping protect the existence of girls and raise awareness about education. The Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana was providing support for their bright future, while the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana was giving marriage a dignified foundation.
He also highlighted the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, which supports motherhood, and the Ujjwala scheme, which provides relief from smoke. The provision of toilets under the Izzat Ghar initiative, he said, was aimed at protecting women’s dignity, while the Gharouni scheme was providing property rights.
The Chief Minister further pointed to lifelong free bus travel for women above 60 years of age and old-age pensions as measures intended to strengthen their social security.
Adityanath maintained that every initiative undertaken by the double-engine government was dedicated to promoting women’s respect, self-esteem and dignified living. His message on the third day of Sharadiya Navratri linked the symbolism of Maa Chandraghanta with the government’s stated focus on women’s safety, welfare and empowerment in Uttar Pradesh.
