Rahul Gandhi UP Visit: Viral Crowd Video Is From 2022 Gujarat Rally, Fact Check Finds
A viral video showing a huge crowd is being linked to Rahul Gandhi’s 2026 Uttar Pradesh visit. Fact-checking found the footage is actually from his 2022 rally in Dahod, Gujarat.
Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, visited his parliamentary constituency Raebareli on September 8, 2026. During the visit, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several development projects. A video showing a large gathering has since gone viral in connection with the visit, with users claiming that the crowd gathered in support of Rahul Gandhi during his Uttar Pradesh tour.
An investigation by Vishvas.News found the claim to be misleading. The viral video is actually from a rally Rahul Gandhi addressed in Dahod, Gujarat, in 2022. The old video is now being circulated with a false connection to his recent Uttar Pradesh visit.
The search led to the same video on an X account named ‘Ramavtar Yogi Bhanwata’. The video had been shared on May 10, 2022. The information accompanying the post indicated that the footage was from a Rahul Gandhi rally in Dahod, Gujarat.
Further searches on Google using relevant keywords produced a news report related to the event on the Gujarati Jagran website. Published on May 10, 2022, the report stated that Rahul Gandhi had arrived in Dahod, Gujarat, for a rally. During the visit, he addressed the ‘Adivasi Satyagraha Rally’.
According to the Gujarati-language report, Rahul Gandhi made several allegations against the BJP during the rally. He said that the present government was being run by two or three industrialists and that the public had no participation in it. He also alleged that in Gujarat, police cases were filed when people protested for their rights.

A report published by Navbharat Times on May 10, 2022, also stated that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addressed a rally of tribals and alleged that the BJP-led state government had deprived tribals of their rights. He said the BJP government would give them nothing but would take everything from them, adding that they would have to take their rights to receive what they were entitled to.
To further verify the location of the viral footage, the reporter covering the visit for Dainik Jagran, Raebareli, Amit Kalmkar, was contacted. He confirmed that the viral video was not from Raebareli.
Rahul Gandhi had arrived in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, on September 8, 2026. During the visit to his parliamentary constituency, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several development projects. He also targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. While criticising the policies of the central government, he said that he would fight at every level to protect the interests of traders.
Reports related to Rahul Gandhi’s Raebareli visit were published by Dainik Jagran, covering his remarks and the inauguration of development projects worth Rs 285 crore.
The Facebook account that shared the video with the misleading claim was also examined. The account was found to have around 35,000 followers. The verification establishes that the viral footage predates Rahul Gandhi’s September 2026 Raebareli visit and belongs to his 2022 rally in Dahod, Gujarat.
