Star javelin thrower Rohit Yadav showed his form ahead of the Asian Games by winning gold at the Indian Athletics Final Series in Delhi on Thursday with a throw of 81.10m.

Rohit has been producing consistent performances this season. In June, he won the National Inter-State Championship with an 87.05m throw, which was among the best throws in the world at the time. The following month, he produced a personal best of 87.68m in Bhubaneswar.

In Delhi on Thursday, Rohit faced competition from Yashvir Singh, who had won bronze at the Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow. Neeraj Chopra had won silver in that event. However, Yashvir finished third in Delhi.

Rohit secured the gold medal with his third attempt, sending the javelin 81.10m. Yashvir recorded his best effort of 80.40m with his fifth attempt.

Rohit has delivered strong performances since the beginning of the year. Within two months, he broke his personal best record. In August, he produced his personal best in Bhubaneswar and won gold with an 87.68m throw. Before that, he had recorded 83.76m in Ludhiana.

His performances this year include an 80.40m throw at the Federation Cup, 83.76m at the Indian Athletics Series-9, 87.05m at the National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championship, 87.68m at the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver and 81.10m at the Indian Athletics Final Series.

The 81.10m effort in Delhi adds another gold-medal performance to Rohit Yadav's strong 2026 season as he heads towards the Asian Games without Neeraj Chopra in the competition.
