DU Elections 2026: ABVP, NSUI Announce Candidates for Key DUSU Posts
DU elections 2026: ABVP and NSUI announce candidates for DUSU president, vice-president, secretary and joint secretary. Voting is scheduled for September 18, with counting on September 19.
ABVP has fielded Yash Dabas for the president’s post, while Eeshu Maurya has been named its candidate for vice-president. Riya Chhabri will contest the secretary’s post, and Lakshyaraj Singh will contest for joint secretary. The student organisation officially announced the names of its candidates on Friday.
NSUI Announces Candidate List
The Congress-affiliated student organisation NSUI has also released its candidate list for the DUSU election. Vijay Shankar Meena has been named the candidate for president, while Veer Chhatrath will contest for vice-president. Namrata Chaudhary has been fielded for secretary and Gopal Chaudhary for joint secretary. NSUI announced the names on Friday.
ABVP announced its candidates for the Delhi University Students’ Union election on Friday, although the nomination process had already been completed a day earlier. For the upcoming DUSU election, nomination papers of 25 candidates for the president’s post have been provisionally accepted. The university’s Chief Election Officer provided this information in a notice.
Update on Candidates From Different Colleges
The provisional list includes candidates from various colleges and departments, including Law Centre-II, PGDAV College, the Department of Buddhist Studies, Campus Law Centre, SPM College, Lakshmi Bai College, Ramjas College, Sri Aurobindo College, Hindu College and Shaheed Bhagat Singh College.
The university has also provisionally accepted nominations from 20 candidates for vice-president, 24 candidates for secretary and 19 candidates for joint secretary.
According to the election schedule, voting for the DUSU election will be held on September 18, while counting will take place on September 19.
ABVP said that after scrutiny of the nomination papers, the final candidates for the posts of president, vice-president, secretary and joint secretary were selected from among the potential candidates.
Ahead of the election, ABVP is conducting a PG-to-PG and class-to-class campaign across Delhi University. Through the campaign, the student organisation is directly interacting with students to understand their problems, expectations and suggestions.
ABVP Focuses on Student Housing and Safety
ABVP said that following the Satya Niketan incident, it has made the issue of safe accommodation for students a key focus. The organisation is conducting a PG survey to gather information about problems in residential areas and existing safety standards.
The student organisation is demanding adequate, safe and accessible hostel facilities for students. It has also called for speeding up the construction of new hostels and ensuring effective compliance with safety standards in PGs and rented buildings.
