Man Denied Aadhaar Update at Ballia Centre Despite Online Appointment, Sparks Row
A man with an online Aadhaar appointment was reportedly denied an update after waiting up to an hour at Ballia Post Office Aadhaar Seva Kendra, prompting a tense exchange and UIDAI escalation.
According to the account, the man waited for 40 minutes to an hour at the Aadhaar Seva Kendra before officials refused to process his request. Staff reportedly told him that Aadhaar updates were not being processed for online bookings and directed him to take whatever action he wanted.
During the exchange, an official was reportedly heard saying, “do whatever you want, post videos wherever you like.” Videos and social media posts capturing the tense interaction subsequently emerged, showing staff members and a police officer present at the centre.
The incident has drawn attention to the reported gap between online appointment systems and the services being provided at Aadhaar centres. Online appointments are intended to help users receive priority and reduce waiting times, making the reported refusal despite a scheduled booking a matter of concern.

UIDAI confirmed that the issue had been escalated to its Regional Office for resolution. The development comes amid broader frustrations over difficulties users can face when the experience at Aadhaar service centres does not align with the expectations created by digital appointment systems.
The Ballia incident has therefore brought renewed focus to the need for coordination between online appointment bookings and actual service delivery at Aadhaar Seva Kendras.
