25-Year-Old Woman Found Dead in Thiruvananthapuram After UK Visa Rejections

A 25-year-old woman was found dead at her Poovachal residence after her UK student visa application was rejected twice. Police registered a case as the investigation continues into the circumstances of her death.

A 25-year-old woman was found dead at her residence in Poovachal, Thiruvananthapuram, on Thursday in an apparent case of suicide following repeated rejections of her UK student visa application.

The deceased was identified as Anjana, a native of Mulamoodu, Poovachal, daughter of Babu and Sindhu, and a resident of BS Bhavan in Mulamoodu.

Anjana was found hanging in her bedroom after family members broke open the door when she failed to respond to her mother’s calls for supper. She was found with a faint pulse and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she died shortly afterwards.

According to sources, Anjana was deeply distressed after her plans to study abroad were disrupted. Poovachal ward member Soumya said Anjana had applied for a UK student visa twice as she wanted to pursue higher studies abroad, but her application was rejected on both occasions.
