BCCI Calls Crucial Review Meeting With Gambhir, Agarkar After India’s Poor Run
BCCI will hold a key review meeting in Mumbai with Gautam Gambhir, Ajit Agarkar and VVS Laxman after India’s poor run in Ireland, England, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, with captains Shubman Gill and Shreyas lyer possibly attending.
There is also a possibility that T20 captain Shreyas lyer and ODI and Test captain Shubman Gill will attend the meeting. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia and BCCI president Mithun Manhas will also be present.
The review was originally planned after India’s defeats in Ireland and England but was postponed because of the team’s two-Test tour of Sri Lanka.
The reigning T20 World Cup champions lost the two-match T20I series in Ireland 2-0 in June. The poor run continued in England, where India lost the five-match T20I series 4-0. The 125-run defeat in Nottingham was the team’s biggest loss of the series.
Under Shubman Gill’s captaincy, India also lost the ODI series in England 2-1.
The review will cover the team’s performances across the Ireland, England, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka tours. A source said the meeting will not be limited to those tours.
The discussions are expected to assess India’s recent performances and focus on the team’s roadmap going forward as the BCCI reviews the results across multiple tours.
