The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a post on X that a fourth flight carrying 11 tonnes of relief assistance landed in Nepal today.
The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu said yesterday that India has sent a specialised technical contingent, including tunnel experts, along with equipment for search and rescue operations in hydropower tunnels in the flood-affected Trishuli area of Nuwakot district. Workers are believed to be trapped in hydropower tunnels following Wednesday’s devastating flash floods.
Before beginning rescue-related work around the tunnel area, the team conducted an aerial survey of the Chilime and Langtang areas.
The embassy also said India has sent forensic experts and equipment for DNA analysis, along with relief supplies including blankets, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, plastic sheets and hygiene kits.
Additionally, 16 trucks carrying equipment for a 230-foot single-lane modular steel bridge have arrived in Nepal. Nepal has sought assistance for the construction of 42 Bailey bridges to restore transport links in the flood-hit areas.
India’s relief supplies, specialised technical teams, forensic experts and bridge equipment form part of the assistance being provided to Nepal as rescue and restoration efforts continue in the flood-affected areas.
