Nepal Flash Flood Death Toll Hits 469 as Families Remain Trapped on Rooftops

Nepal’s deadly flash flood has killed at least 469 people and left more than 1,400 missing. Rescue teams search devastated valleys as families remain trapped, a Tibet dam burst raises warnings, and aid reaches survivors.

A massive glacial collapse near Langtang Lirung triggered a deadly flash flood along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers, killing at least 469 people in Nepal and leaving more than 1,400 missing, including hundreds of foreign tourists and pilgrims from Australia, India, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Rescue teams are battling thick mud, destroyed roads and helicopter-only access as they search remote valleys where entire villages have vanished. The scale of destruction has severely complicated rescue operations, with teams continuing searches around the clock for those still missing.

The disaster has also prompted urgent warnings after a new dam burst in Tibet, with authorities urging people to move to higher ground amid continuing risks.

Amid the devastation, a green house has emerged as a beacon of hope, with people visible on its balcony. The sight has drawn attention as rescue teams continue efforts to locate survivors in areas cut off by the flooding and destruction.
