Airport fire crews responded quickly and contained the spill. No injuries or fire were reported following the incident.
The aircraft, which is one of the last passenger versions of the Boeing 747 still flying, was scheduled to operate Air China Flight CA982 to Beijing. However, the damage to the fuel port forced the cancellation of the flight.

Passengers were notified of “fuel guarantee” problems after the incident, while the Boeing 747-8 remained grounded for checks following the minor damage.
The mishap disrupted the scheduled Beijing service and left the aircraft out of operation while inspections were carried out to assess the damage caused during the refueling operation.
