Delhi SIR Draft Roll Excludes 47.56 Lakh Names: How Eligible Voters Can Reapply

Delhi’s SIR draft electoral roll has excluded around 47.56 lakh names. Eligible voters can seek inclusion through Form 6 during the claims and objections period by submitting required documents and declarations.

If your name has been left out of Delhi’s draft electoral roll under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), you still have an opportunity to get it added again.

The Delhi Chief Electoral Officer has published the draft electoral roll covering voters from all 14,947 polling booths across the national capital. The exercise has left out around 47.56 lakh names, accounting for roughly 33 per cent of Delhi’s total electorate.

Officials have cited five reasons for the exclusions: voters being absent, shifted, dead, duplicate or falling under the “others” category.

However, a name missing from the draft list does not mean that the voter has permanently lost the right to vote. The SIR exercise is intended to update the electoral rolls by verifying whether voters are eligible and whether their details are correct.

Eligible voters whose names have been excluded should first search for their names in the SIR draft electoral roll. They should also check the list of names left out of the draft roll and verify the reason provided for the exclusion.

If an eligible voter’s name has been left out, the voter can apply for inclusion through Form 6. For Delhi’s 2026 SIR, the Chief Electoral Officer has specifically stated that voters can file Form 6 during the claims and objections period, along with the required declaration and supporting documents. Applications can be submitted online or offline.

Applicants must provide documents supporting their eligibility, age and place of ordinary residence, depending on their case. After Form 6 is submitted, the Electoral Registration Officer or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer can ask the Booth Level Officer to verify the details at the applicant’s residence. The Booth Level Officer may check the information provided in the application before a decision is taken.

If the Electoral Registration Officer rejects the application, an appeal can be filed before the District Election Officer during the revision process. The Election Commission’s general guidance also provides for a further appeal before the Chief Electoral Officer in the applicable process.

The claims and objections process therefore provides eligible voters whose names are missing from the Delhi SIR draft electoral roll an opportunity to seek inclusion by submitting Form 6 and the required supporting documents.
