Galgotias University Students Build Apps for Social Challenges, Earn Apple Recognition

Galgotias University students have earned Apple recognition for apps addressing women’s health, autism screening, retail and interview preparation, with their projects featured in Apple’s story and video on student developers.

Students at Galgotias University are turning firsthand problems into working apps, with projects spanning women’s health, early autism screening, retail and interview preparation now earning recognition from Apple and featuring in a story and video on apple.com.

Among the student-built applications is Sakhi, developed by Karan Kumar and Arpita Gupta. The menstrual health companion combines cycle tracking with emergency assistance for women. AutiCare, developed by Sudhanshu Kumar and Sourabh Singh, supports early autism screening for parents and caregivers.

Madhav Sharma and Ansh Kalra developed ToyVista, which uses augmented reality to allow shoppers to visualise toys before purchasing them. PrepLoop, led by a team headed by Shams Tabrej Alam, simulates real interview environments and provides AI feedback to help students prepare for job interviews.

Each of the applications began as a problem that students wanted to solve rather than as an assignment, reflecting the hands-on approach of Galgotias University’s iOS Student Developer Program.

A few students in the programme are first-generation college goers, while some are children of farmers and others come from small towns where writing a line of code was unfamiliar territory before their first year at the university. With access to tools, training and mentorship, these students are turning their ideas into working software.

The programme has also changed how students learn. Swift and Xcode are integrated directly into coursework rather than being taught only as theory, allowing students to move from writing code to shipping a working app. For many, it is the first time an idea they developed has reached real users.

The programme’s Apple Swift Student Challenge wins have grown from 10 in 2025 to 18 in 2026.

“This recognition belongs to our students. What they have built, and the effort behind it, underscores their innovation and determination to use technology for building socially relevant apps that solve real world problems, and it is a proud moment to see that hard work recognised on a global platform,” said Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, CEO, Galgotias University.

The work also contributes directly to students’ career readiness. Graduates leave with portfolios of original, working software alongside their transcripts, while the programme’s links to industry partners including Infosys provide some students with early exposure to how their work applies commercially.

Galgotias University is featured on apple.com as part of Apple’s coverage of student developer programmes at higher education institutions. The video and full story are available at www.apple.co/galgotias.

The recognition places the students’ projects, developed around problems in women’s health, autism screening, retail and interview preparation, on a global platform while highlighting the practical outcomes of the university’s iOS Student Developer Program.
