President Murmu Honors 108 Artists with Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards

President Murmu honored 108 eminent artists with Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowships and Awards for 2024 and 2025, recognizing achievements in music, dance, theatre, folk traditions, puppetry and other performing arts.

 

President Droupadi Murmu presented the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowships and Awards for 2024 and 2025 to 108 eminent artists from across India, recognizing their contributions to music, dance, theatre, folk and tribal traditions, puppetry, and other performing arts.

President Murmu praised the award recipients as guardians of India’s cultural heritage who preserve the country’s collective memory and guide the next generation through mentorship.

The recipients included filmmaker T.S. Nagabharana for theatre, Vid. Dr. T.S. Sathyavathi for music, and Assamese artiste Chetana Das for acting.

The awards recognize lifetime achievements and sustained excellence in the performing arts. They include cash prizes, a Tamrapatra, and an Angavastram.
