President Murmu praised the award recipients as guardians of India’s cultural heritage who preserve the country’s collective memory and guide the next generation through mentorship.
The recipients included filmmaker T.S. Nagabharana for theatre, Vid. Dr. T.S. Sathyavathi for music, and Assamese artiste Chetana Das for acting.
The awards recognize lifetime achievements and sustained excellence in the performing arts. They include cash prizes, a Tamrapatra, and an Angavastram.
By honoring 108 artists across diverse artistic traditions, the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowships and Awards for 2024 and 2025 recognize their enduring contributions to India’s cultural heritage and their role in passing artistic knowledge to future generations.
