Bata India Reports 23% Rise in Q1 FY27 PAT as Revenue Grows 4% to Rs. 9,789 Million

Bata India reports 4% revenue growth and a 23% rise in Q1 FY27 PAT, while stronger margins, lower inventory and higher consumer engagement drive its third consecutive quarter of accelerating growth.

Bata India, India’s most trusted footwear company, has reported revenue of Rs. 9,789 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, marking an approximately 4% year-on-year growth over Q1 FY26. Profit after tax (PAT) rose more than 23% to Rs. 637 million from Rs. 517 million in the corresponding quarter last year, marking the company’s third consecutive quarter of accelerating growth.

Profit before taxes excluding one-offs stood at Rs. 906 million, up more than 22% from Rs. 745 million in the corresponding quarter last year. One-offs during the quarter included a non-cash forex loss on license fees of Rs. 27 million, owing to continued currency devaluation, and a one-time ERP implementation cost of Rs. 24 million.

Continued focus on operational efficiency, disciplined cost management and sharper execution across channels helped Bata India deliver operating cash profit of Rs. 2,166 million during the quarter, an increase of 7.6% over the previous year. The Bata Board also announced an interim dividend of Rs. 25 per share, amounting to Rs. 3,213 million.

Gunjan Shah, Managing Director and CEO, Bata India, said the company continued its growth momentum for the third consecutive quarter, with topline growth of 4% in Q1 FY27 driven by a blend of premiumisation and volume growth. He said the growth was supported by strong consumer engagement, with advertising investments increasing by nearly 25%. The company also successfully navigated the global geopolitical situation impacting freight costs, shipping and transit time.

Shah said inventory metrics continued to improve in terms of both quantity and quality, with gross inventory lower by more than 10% compared with June 30, 2025. The Zero Base Merchandising Project was scaled to 775 stores, delivering results in consumer experience and revenue per square foot.

Bata India also delivered a healthy gross margin gain of 130 basis points, supported by the highest full-price sale and lower markdowns. Growth was broad-based, with all channels contributing positively, while e-commerce recorded significant growth.

“As Bata India builds on its growth momentum, we remain focused on driving sustainable, profitable growth through a balanced strategy of premiumisation, volume expansion, stronger consumer engagement, operational excellence and disciplined capital allocation,” Shah said. He added that with monsoon business shifting to the September quarter, the company remained optimistic about continuing the momentum.

For close to a century, Bata India has been a symbol of trust and quality for Indian consumers, serving over 250,000 customers every day. Throughout this journey, the company has continuously evolved to cater to the diverse needs and preferences of its customers to become the largest footwear retailer and manufacturer in the country.

Bata India’s expansive retail network consists of nearly 2,000 stores, including Company Owned and Franchise stores, supported by thousands of Multi Brand Outlets and a robust omni-channel presence across D2C and marketplaces.

The company sells close to 50 million pairs annually and is on a mission to make global trends and premium fashion accessible to all consumers through its extensive retail network. Bata India is redefining the intersection of fashion and comfort through brands including Bata Red Label, Bata Comfit, Power, NorthStar, Floatz, Bubblegummers and Hush Puppies, among others.
