PM Modi Hails Sharmila’s Historic Gold at CWG, Congratulates India’s Medalists
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulates Sharmila for her historic Women’s Shot Put F57 gold medal, Valluri Ajaya Babu for a CWG record silver in weightlifting, and Sarvesh Anil Kushare for his high jump silver at the Commonwealth Games.
In a social media post, the Prime Minister described Sharmila’s performance as remarkable, noting that the achievement ended a two-decade-long wait for a Para Athletics Gold at the Commonwealth Games.
The Prime Minister also congratulated Valluri Ajaya Babu for winning the Silver Medal in the weightlifting Men’s 79 kg category at the Commonwealth Games (CWG) in Glasgow.
Mr Modi said that the weightlifter etched his name in the record books by setting a CWG Record in the Snatch event.
The Prime Minister further congratulated Sarvesh Anil Kushare for clinching the Silver Medal in the Men’s High Jump event at the Commonwealth Games 2026.
Extending his best wishes to all the medalists, the Prime Minister wished them many more inspiring feats in the future. The achievements of Sharmila, Valluri Ajaya Babu, and Sarvesh Anil Kushare marked significant medal-winning performances for India at the Commonwealth Games.
