BMW Unveils New-Gen X5 LWB and iX5 for China, India Launch of X5 LWB Reportedly Likely
BMW has unveiled the new-generation X5 LWB and electric iX5 for the Chinese market. Built on the Neue Klasse platform, the SUVs feature a longer wheelbase, updated design, and advanced cabin, while reports indicate the X5 LWB could also arrive in India.
The new-generation X5 LWB is built on BMW’s Neue Klasse platform and features a wheelbase of 3,165 mm, making it 130 mm longer than the standard version.
The exterior design remains largely identical to the standard model. The new X5 LWB features a slim front fascia with a vertical kidney grille, while the LED headlights adopt a striking new light signature. At the rear, the SUV is equipped with slim wraparound LED taillights.
Inside, the new X5 is expected to feature a minimalist dashboard layout with a large central touchscreen, a distinctive four-spoke steering wheel, and a full-width Panoramic Vision system positioned just below the edge of the windshield.
BMW has not revealed the technical specifications of the new-generation X5 LWB. However, the SUV is expected to be offered with petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid powertrain options.
The all-electric iX5 LWB is powered by a 141 kWh battery, offering a claimed driving range of up to 1,000 km under the CLTC testing cycle.
The unveiling marks BMW’s latest expansion of its long-wheelbase SUV lineup for the Chinese market, while reports indicating a possible India launch of the X5 LWB are likely to draw attention from premium SUV buyers.
