Monsoon Rains Bring Relief and Floods Across Delhi-NCR as Orange Alert Remains in Effect
Heavy monsoon rainfall across Delhi-NCR prompted the India Meteorological Department to issue an orange alert as moderate to heavy showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds caused waterlogging in Noida, Gurugram, and Ghaziabad. While many residents enjoyed the cooler weather, flooded roads and traffic disruptions exposed persistent urban drainage challenges.
The rainfall triggered severe waterlogging in several low-lying areas of Noida, Gurugram, and Ghaziabad, affecting daily life and disrupting traffic movement. Despite the flooding in vulnerable locations, major roads across the region remained open, allowing essential traffic to continue.
Residents expressed mixed reactions to the changing weather conditions. While many welcomed the cool weather, enjoying mist-covered drives and roadside noodles during the monsoon, others voiced frustration over inadequate preparedness, flooded roads, and difficult commuting conditions caused by the persistent rain.
The India Meteorological Department has indicated that rainfall is expected to continue through July 10, keeping authorities and residents on alert as the region remains vulnerable to further waterlogging and traffic disruptions. The latest spell of monsoon rain has once again highlighted both the seasonal relief it provides and the recurring challenges posed by urban flooding across Delhi-NCR.
