Monsoon Floods Sweep 3,000 LPG Cylinders into Maharashtra River as Authorities Issue Urgent Public Safety Warning

Monsoon flooding at an LPG bottling plant in Maharashtra's Raigad district swept nearly 3,000 LPG cylinders into the Patalganga River and Kharpada Creek. Authorities have warned residents not to touch the drifting cylinders due to unknown gas contents as recovery operations continue without any reported explosions or injuries.

Thousands of LPG cylinders were swept away by monsoon floodwaters after severe flooding inundated an LPG bottling plant in Maharashtra's Raigad district, prompting authorities to issue an urgent public safety warning. The incident occurred at the facility in Panvel taluka, where floodwaters carried both filled and empty cylinders downstream into the Patalganga River and Kharpada Creek.

District Collector Kishan Jawale warned residents not to touch or attempt to recover any drifting cylinders because their gas contents remain unknown, creating a potential safety risk. He urged the public to immediately report any sighting of the cylinders to the authorities instead of handling them.

Recovery teams have retrieved about 1,000 cylinders so far, while efforts continue to recover the remaining units carried away by the floodwaters. Officials confirmed that no explosions, fires, or injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
