Sole Earner of Family

Gaikar is the sole earning member of his family and supports his wife, two school-going children and his ailing mother.

Friend Describes Terrifying Moment

Pradeep Wengurlekar, Gaikar's longtime friend and an eyewitness to the incident, said, "I was just a few steps ahead when the branch suddenly came crashing down. It broke his umbrella and hit him on the head. Before I could react, he was lying on the road bleeding. Bystanders helped us while a nearby police vehicle rushed him to Cooper Hospital."

Wife Awaits Husband's Recovery

Gaikar's wife Apeksha said that he had resumed work after taking a two-day break due to the adverse weather conditions.

"He left home around 7 am after I prepared his lunch box. I was informed around 10 am about the incident. Doctors have performed brain surgery, and he is not responding at present. They have told us that he should regain consciousness within the next 24 hours," she said.

The incident has raised concerns over the safety risks posed by falling tree branches during adverse weather conditions, as Gaikar continues to battle for recovery after suffering serious injuries near one of Mumbai's busy transport points.
