Meerut Blue Drum Murder Case: Viral Video Falsely Claims Death Sentence for Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla as Court Verdict Awaits

A viral social media video falsely claims that Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla have been sentenced to death in the Meerut Blue Drum Murder Case. However, the trial is still underway in the Meerut District and Sessions Court. With final arguments nearing completion and 22 witnesses examined, the court is expected to deliver its verdict by the end of July.

A video linked to the high-profile Meerut Blue Drum Murder Case is rapidly circulating across social media, falsely claiming that Muskan Rastogi and her alleged lover Sahil Shukla have been sentenced to death for the murder of Merchant Navy officer Saurabh Rajput. The claim has been proven false, as the trial is still underway in the Meerut District and Sessions Court, with a verdict expected by the end of July.

According to ANI, the viral video shows a courtroom scene in which a judge is purportedly pronouncing the sentence against Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla. A similar video also gained attention on Tuesday before being identified as fabricated. Despite widespread circulation, no final judgment has been delivered in the case.

The proceedings are currently in the final stage of arguments before the District Court. Public Prosecutor K.K. Chaubey has completed his submissions, while the counsel representing the family of deceased Saurabh Rajput has also concluded arguments. Advocate Rekha Jain, appearing for Muskan Rastogi, is presently presenting the defence's case. After the defence concludes its arguments, Vijay Bahadur Singh will present rebuttal submissions before the court reserves and delivers its final verdict.

The murder took place on March 3, 2025, in the Brahmpuri area of Meerut. Investigators allege that Muskan Rastogi conspired with her alleged lover Sahil Shukla to murder her husband, Merchant Navy officer Saurabh Rajput. After the killing, the accused allegedly dismembered the body and concealed the remains inside a large blue plastic drum filled with a cement mixture. The two later travelled to Shimla and Manali. The couple's daughter was left in the care of her maternal grandparents. Both accused are currently in judicial custody while the trial continues.

According to PTI, the sequence of events began on February 25, 2025, when Muskan Rastogi celebrated her birthday. Saurabh Rajput had arrived in Meerut on February 24 to celebrate the occasion with his wife. It was allegedly decided that he would be killed on March 4. Before the attack, Muskan allegedly put their daughter, Pihu, to sleep in an adjoining room and mixed sedatives into Saurabh Rajput's dinner. After he fell asleep, she allegedly called Sahil Shukla to the house.

Investigators allege that after Sahil Shukla arrived, Muskan Rastogi stabbed Saurabh Rajput in the chest. Following his death, the two allegedly dragged the body into the bathroom and cut it into four pieces. Police claim they purchased a large plastic water storage drum from the market to conceal the remains. The body parts were placed inside the drum and covered with a cement mixture to avoid suspicion. Saurabh Rajput's severed head was allegedly disposed of in a forest.

Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla have remained in jail since March 18, 2025. During her incarceration, Muskan gave birth to a baby girl. Saurabh Rajput's family has refused to accept the child, claiming she could not be his daughter because Saurabh was living in London during the period when Muskan became pregnant. The family believes the child was fathered by Sahil Shukla.

The prosecution has completed the examination of 22 witnesses in the case, after which its evidence was formally closed. The court has now initiated proceedings under Section 313 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, allowing the accused to respond to the evidence presented against them. With final arguments nearing completion, the court is expected to pronounce its verdict by the end of July.

The Meerut Blue Drum Murder Case has remained one of the country's most closely followed criminal trials. As misinformation continues to spread through fabricated social media videos, the final judicial verdict is now awaited to determine the legal outcome of one of the most sensational murder cases of 2025.
