Anupam Kher Defends Faith Amid Alleged Ram Temple Donation Embezzlement Row, Announces ‘Shri Ram Janmabhoomi’ Shoot in Ayodhya
Actor Anupam Kher said his upcoming film Shri Ram Janmabhoomi will depict the centuries-long struggle behind the Ram Temple's construction. Responding to the alleged donation embezzlement case, he said individual wrongdoing must not be linked to the temple, religion, or the faith of millions, while confirming the film's 10 to 12-day shoot in Ayodhya.
Speaking to journalists, Kher also responded to the alleged embezzlement of donations offered at the Ram Temple. He said no wrongful act should be used to hold the temple or people's faith responsible. Drawing a comparison, he said that if a theft occurs in a house, the fault lies with the person who committed the crime, not with the house itself.
Kher stated that the alleged incident was wrong and that strict action should be taken against those involved. He said the misconduct of a few individuals cannot diminish the sanctity of the temple or the faith of millions of devotees. According to him, the construction of the Ram Temple represents the culmination of centuries of struggle and the deeply held emotions of countless people. He added that seeking the blessings of God before beginning any new project is important to him.
The actor further said that theft or any criminal act committed by an individual should not be associated with an entire community, religion, or temple. He appealed to the public to view such incidents as the personal actions of those responsible for the wrongdoing rather than linking them to religious institutions or faith.
Kher also said that the existence of Lord Ram and the Sanatan tradition dates back to ancient times and that people's devotion should not be weakened by a single incident. He noted that devotees who contributed donations to the temple did so with faith and trust, and those sentiments should remain respected.
He further announced that the shooting of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi will take place in Ayodhya for 10 to 12 days. The production has commenced after seeking the blessings of Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman, marking the beginning of a project that seeks to depict one of the most significant religious and historical journeys in modern India.
