IndiGo Launches 'Lite' Economy Fare with Lower Base Price for Cabin-Baggage-Only Travellers
IndiGo has introduced the new "IndiGo Lite" Economy fare, offering lower base fares for passengers travelling with only cabin baggage and auto-assigned seats. Available for bookings from July 1 and travel from July 15, the fare covers domestic and international non-stop flights while allowing travellers to purchase additional services separately.
The IndiGo Lite fare will be available for bookings made through the airline's website, mobile application, and contact centre from July 1, while travel under the new category will begin from July 15. The fare will be offered across all non-stop domestic and international flights, covering one-way, round-trip, and multi-city bookings for both adult and child passengers.
Under the new fare, passengers will be permitted to carry one cabin bag weighing up to 7 kilograms and will receive an auto-assigned seat at no additional cost. Those requiring extra services will have the option to purchase checked baggage, preferred seats, onboard meals, and priority services, including Fast Forward, separately through the airline's booking platforms or at the airport up to one hour before departure.
IndiGo stated that customers choosing the Lite fare will continue to earn and redeem IndiGo BluChip loyalty points despite selecting the airline's lowest-priced travel option.
Explaining the decision, IndiGo Chief Strategy Officer Aloke Singh said the new fare had been designed for passengers who travel light and prefer to pay only for the services they need.
With the introduction of IndiGo Lite, the airline's "6E Ways to Fly" portfolio now includes Saver, Flexi Plus, IndiGo UpFront, IndiGoStretch, Stretch+, and Lite, providing passengers with multiple fare options tailored to different budgets and travel preferences.
The launch of IndiGo Lite further expands the airline's range of fare products, reflecting its strategy of offering greater flexibility and affordable travel choices while allowing passengers to customise their flying experience according to their individual needs.
