Bus Ticket Glitch Sends Tamil Nadu Passenger to ‘Dubai’ Instead of Hosur, Sparks Viral Frenzy

P Damadoran, a resident of Tamil Nadu, boarded a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus from Bhavani Bypass on Monday along with his friend, M Raja. The two were travelling on a Coimbatore-Bengaluru TNSTC service and intended to reach Hosur. However, the ticket issued to them suggested a far more ambitious journey.

Instead of displaying Hosur as the destination, the ticket listed Dubai, UAE. Adding to the confusion, the fare printed on the ticket was ₹10,000 per passenger, despite the actual fare for the journey being only ₹150 each, according to a report by The Times of India.

The unusual ticket quickly attracted attention from fellow passengers and transformed an otherwise ordinary journey into a source of amusement. Damadoran later shared a photograph of the ticket online, where it rapidly gained traction across social media platforms.

As the image circulated widely, users responded with a wave of jokes, memes, and playful remarks. Many humorously speculated that TNSTC had launched an international bus route connecting Tamil Nadu and Dubai, while others described it as the most affordable overseas trip available.

Following the growing online attention, officials from the TNSTC Salem Division clarified the circumstances behind the incident. According to the transport corporation, the unusual ticket was generated due to a software malfunction in the electronic ticketing machine used by the conductor.

Officials confirmed that Damadoran and Raja were charged only the correct fare for their journey. They explained that the incorrect destination and fare appeared solely because of a technical error in the system and did not affect the amount collected from passengers.

The corporation further stated that the glitch was limited to the information printed on the ticket and had no impact on fare collection or ticketing records.

Although the mystery of the “Dubai ticket” was eventually resolved, the incident had already captured widespread public attention. What began as a routine trip from Bhavani Bypass to Hosur briefly appeared to be an international journey worth ₹10,000, demonstrating how a simple software error can quickly become a viral phenomenon in the digital age.
