According to initial reports, the BEST bus operating on route number 463/31 lost control around 10:00 am and collided with a car and a two-wheeler before hitting several pedestrians in the busy Dadar market area. The sudden impact caused widespread chaos among motorists and bystanders in one of Mumbai’s most congested commercial zones.
Emergency services responded immediately after the incident. Injured individuals were transported to Sion Hospital for urgent medical treatment. One unidentified man, aged between 22 and 25 years, was declared dead on arrival. Three others sustained serious injuries, including significant trauma. Among the injured were a BEST bus conductor and a transit inspector.
CCTV footage, as reported, captured the bus entering the junction before colliding with vehicles, triggering panic and disruption in the surrounding area. The footage has become a key part of the ongoing investigation.
Reports also confirmed that four pedestrians were injured in the collision and were rushed to Sion Hospital for treatment. Authorities have since initiated efforts to clear damaged vehicles and debris from the accident site to restore normal traffic flow in the area.
Police and traffic authorities have launched a formal investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Officials are examining CCTV recordings and recording witness statements to assess whether the incident resulted from driver negligence, mechanical failure, or other contributing factors. The identities of the deceased and injured individuals have not been disclosed in line with standard privacy protocols.
Emergency response teams from the Mumbai Fire Brigade and local police acted swiftly following the crash, conducting rescue operations and assisting in the evacuation of victims trapped in the immediate aftermath of the collision.
Traffic movement was later restored in the area after clearance operations were completed, though the incident caused significant disruption during peak morning hours in the Dadar market region. The crash has once again raised serious concerns regarding road safety and the operation of public transport buses on Mumbai’s heavily congested roads.
Authorities continue to investigate liability as they work to establish the exact sequence of events leading to the fatal accident.
