A major outcome of the visit was the approval of the University of Liverpool’s Bengaluru campus, which is scheduled to begin operations in August 2026. The institution will offer affordable degree programmes in disciplines including computer science and game design, providing Indian students with greater access to international higher education opportunities within the country.
In another key development, both sides launched the Critical Minerals Global Supply Chain Observatory, an initiative designed to strengthen resilience in critical mineral supply chains and support clean energy transitions. The observatory is expected to enhance cooperation in securing essential resources required for emerging technologies and sustainable energy infrastructure.
The visit also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of a maritime security centre, reflecting the growing importance of defence and security cooperation between India and the United Kingdom. The agreement aims to improve coordination and collaboration in maritime security matters, contributing to regional stability and strategic engagement.
During the meetings, leaders reviewed progress under the India-UK Vision 2030 framework and discussed a broad range of issues, including bilateral trade, defence partnerships, climate cooperation and major global developments. The discussions built upon the momentum created by last year’s trade agreement, which was designed to strengthen economic ties and expand opportunities for businesses and investors in both countries.
The latest agreements underscore the deepening strategic partnership between India and the United Kingdom, highlighting a shared commitment to educational advancement, supply chain security, clean energy resilience and maritime cooperation. The developments are expected to further strengthen bilateral relations and accelerate progress under the long-term Vision 2030 roadmap.
