India’s Textile Sector Targets Major Global Expansion as Union Minister Giriraj Singh Highlights Growth Momentum
Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh highlighted India’s textile sector growth during his Andhra Pradesh visit, stating the market is valued at over 15 trillion rupees with a target of 25 trillion by 2030. He emphasized policy reforms, global market access, PLI scheme benefits, and development goals under Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
As part of the visit, Giriraj Singh inspected the Mohan Spintex Company located at the Mallavalli Industrial Park in Krishna district. During his review, he noted that India’s textile market is currently valued at over 15 trillion rupees, with the government actively working to expand it beyond 25 trillion rupees by 2030.
The Minister emphasized that the textile industry is growing at a fast pace and underlined the importance of providing wider access to global markets for Indian artisans and craftsmen. He further stated that the central government is developing a comprehensive future action plan in coordination with the Andhra Pradesh government to accelerate growth in the state’s textile sector.
Giriraj Singh highlighted that the Production Linked Incentive scheme is playing a key role in increasing production capacity, strengthening Indian brands, and attracting foreign investment into the textile industry. He also assured efforts to enhance financial allocation for Andhra Pradesh to support industrial development initiatives.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 12 years in office, the Minister said India has gained enhanced global recognition and achieved substantial progress across economic growth, digital transformation, infrastructure development, national security, and social welfare. He added that the achievements of the past 12 years have laid a strong foundation for building a developed India by 2047.
The Minister’s remarks underscored the government’s continued focus on strengthening the textile sector as a global growth engine, while aligning state and central efforts to position India as a leading hub for textile production and exports.
