Badminton Player Monu Beaten to Death in Faridabad Amid Alleged Abduction Linked to Relationship Dispute

Monu, a resident of Saidpur village in Bhiwadi, had recently completed his 12th standard examinations and was known at the state level for his achievements in badminton, having secured multiple district-level medals, according to his family. His uncle, Narendra, confirmed his sporting background and education details.

As per reports, Monu was involved in a relationship with a minor girl from the Tigaon Police Station area in Faridabad. The girl’s maternal uncle resided in Monu’s village, Saidpur, and she reportedly visited the village frequently, during which the two developed a relationship.

In April, Monu and the minor girl had eloped, following which the father of the girl lodged a complaint and a case was registered. The girl was later traced, but Monu remained missing.

According to Monu’s uncle Narendra, the victim went to join the police investigation on May 17. The family alleges that instead of cooperating with authorities, he was kidnapped by the girl’s family and subjected to torture for three days.

On May 20, police informed the family that Monu had been found injured outside the girl’s residence and was being taken to a hospital. He succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a private medical facility.

Police spokesperson Yashpal confirmed that Monu had eloped with the minor in April and a case had been registered following a complaint by the girl’s father. Police have since detained two suspects and launched a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.

The incident has raised serious concerns over alleged custodial violence by private individuals and the escalation of personal disputes into fatal outcomes, with the investigation currently underway.
