Sony Raises PlayStation Plus Subscription Prices in India Across All Tiers

Sony has increased PlayStation Plus subscription prices across Essential, Extra, and Deluxe tiers in India. The revised pricing affects monthly, quarterly, and annual plans, while uncertainty remains over whether existing subscribers will face immediate billing changes. The move comes amid Microsoft reducing Xbox Game Pass prices in India.

Sony has officially increased the prices of its PlayStation Plus subscriptions in India across all membership tiers, significantly raising the cost for gamers subscribing to the service. The revised pricing structure now places the entry-level PlayStation Plus Essential plan at Rs 649 per month, up from the earlier Rs 499, marking another major price revision in the Indian gaming market.

The updated prices have already been reflected on PlayStation’s official platform. Under the revised structure, the PlayStation Plus Essential plan now costs Rs 649 for a one-month subscription, compared to the earlier Rs 499. The three-month plan has increased from Rs 1,199 to Rs 1,559, while the twelve-month subscription now costs Rs 5,139 instead of Rs 3,949.

Sony has also raised the prices for the PlayStation Plus Extra tier. The one-month subscription has increased from Rs 749 to Rs 979. The three-month plan now costs Rs 2,599, compared to the earlier Rs 1,999, while the annual subscription has been revised from Rs 6,699 to Rs 8,709.

The PlayStation Plus Deluxe tier has witnessed the sharpest increase. The one-month subscription now costs Rs 1,109, up from Rs 849. The three-month subscription has risen from Rs 2,299 to Rs 2,989, while the twelve-month plan has climbed from Rs 7,599 to Rs 9,879.

The price hike comes shortly after Sony announced an increase in PlayStation Plus subscription charges in select international regions, citing ongoing market conditions as the reason behind the revision. Sony had earlier stated that the revised prices would not affect existing subscribers unless their current subscriptions were modified, renewed, or allowed to lapse. However, the company clarified that users in India and Turkey would not fall under that protection policy.

Despite the revised pricing now appearing on PlayStation’s platform, Sony has not issued a clear clarification regarding whether existing subscribers in India will immediately be impacted or whether the increased charges will apply only after the expiration of current membership periods. The absence of a formal disclaimer has created uncertainty among subscribers regarding future billing cycles and renewal charges.

The development comes at a time when Microsoft recently announced a reduction in the prices of its Game Pass subscriptions in India after concerns that the service had become expensive for many users. Following the revision, the price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate was reduced by Rs 300, while the PC Game Pass subscription saw a reduction of Rs 60.

Sony’s latest move is expected to intensify discussions within the gaming community over the rising cost of subscription-based gaming services in India. With subscription prices increasing sharply across all PlayStation Plus tiers, the decision could significantly impact long-term subscribers and console gamers evaluating the affordability of premium gaming memberships.
