Galgotias University Student Teams to Represent India at Global EDVentures Startup Competition 2026 in Hong Kong with AI and Accessibility Innovations

Two student-led teams from Galgotias University will represent India at the Global EDVentures Startup Competition 2026 in Hong Kong with innovations in Virtual Reality-based immersive learning and tactile coding systems for visually impaired learners, highlighting advances in accessible education technology and SDG 4 alignment.

Two student-led innovation teams from Galgotias University are set to represent India at the Global EDVentures Startup Competition 2026, scheduled to be held at The Education University of Hong Kong. The global event will bring together university founders from across Asia to present technology-driven solutions aimed at reimagining how learning is experienced, accessed, and delivered in alignment with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4, focused on Quality Education.

The participating teams are developing distinct education technology solutions addressing immersive learning and accessibility. One team is focused on leveraging Virtual Reality to simplify and enhance understanding of complex academic concepts through experiential simulations, while the second team is building assistive systems to make coding education more accessible for visually impaired learners through tactile interaction technologies.

The first startup, Tekurious Private Limited, includes Akash Kumar, a third-year Bachelor of Technology Computer Science student specializing in Artificial Intelligence from the Class of 2027; Yash Vardhan, a third-year Bachelor of Science Honours Microbiology student from the Class of 2026 at the School of Biosciences and Technology; and Anoop Maurya, a fourth-year Bachelor of Technology student in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science from the Batch of 2022–2026 at Galgotias College of Engineering and Technology. The startup is developing a Virtual Reality-based immersive learning platform designed to help students understand complex academic concepts through interactive simulations rather than passive textbook-based learning.

Akash Kumar stated that the idea originated from a belief that students learn more effectively when they experience concepts rather than memorize them. He added that participation in the EDVentures competition in Hong Kong provides the team an opportunity to demonstrate how immersive technologies can improve engagement and accessibility in education systems.

The second project, Project TACTO, includes Gaurang Pant, a third-year Bachelor of Technology Computer Science Engineering student from the Class of 2027; Shristi Mandoliya, a second-year Bachelor of Technology Computer Science Engineering student specializing in Data Science from the Class of 2028; and Kavya Singh, a third-year Bachelor of Business Administration student specializing in Financial Investment Analysis from the Batch of 2023–2026 at the School of Finance and Commerce, Galgotias University. The team is developing a tactile hardware-based coding system designed for visually impaired learners, converting programming logic into physical interaction through modular blocks supported by sensing systems and real-time audio feedback.

Gaurang Pant explained that the project was conceptualized after discussions on the barriers faced by visually impaired learners in coding education due to reliance on screen-based interfaces. He noted that participation in EDVentures will enable the team to engage with educators and innovators working toward more inclusive approaches to programming education.

The EDVentures Startup Competition will feature student innovation teams from leading institutions, including Nanyang Technological University, National Institute of Education Singapore, King Saud University, East China Normal University, Universitas Indonesia, and Ajman University, positioning the Galgotias University teams within a broader Asian ecosystem of emerging student founders working on education-focused technological innovation.

Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, Chief Executive Officer of Galgotias University, stated that as internationalisation becomes an increasing focus for the institution, platforms such as EDVentures enable students to collaborate with global educators, researchers, and founders addressing similar challenges. He added that when students build solutions for real educational problems and present them internationally, it reflects their growing confidence as innovators with relevance beyond their immediate academic environment.

Entrepreneur and mentor at the Galgotias Incubation Centre, Rachit Mathur, highlighted that global exposure helps student founders test their ideas in diverse academic environments and learn from multiple perspectives. He noted that the current SDG 4 focused theme encourages teams to integrate inclusive education objectives with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and immersive learning systems, enabling refinement of ideas into scalable innovations.

Galgotias University has expanded its startup and innovation ecosystem through industry-linked Centres of Excellence, advanced technology laboratories, and structured incubation support for student founders. The institution has incubated more than 135 startups and has established a ten crore Indian rupee Galgotias Innovation Fund to support emerging student-led ventures.

The university has also developed specialized laboratories and Centres of Excellence in collaboration with Intel, Cisco, Apple, Salesforce, Tata Technologies, and Capgemini. Its high-performance computing infrastructure is powered by the NVIDIA DGX H200 system, providing students access to industry-grade technological resources.

Reflecting its growing innovation ecosystem, 34 student-developed applications are currently available on the Apple App Store, while 18 Galgotias University students have been selected among global winners of the Apple Swift Student Challenge.

Both teams are currently receiving structured mentoring support as part of their preparation for the international competition. Their participation underscores the university’s growing focus on student-led innovation that extends beyond academic projects into globally relevant solutions addressing accessibility, immersive learning, and the future of education technology.
