National Human Rights Commission Announces Short Film Competition 2026 on Human Rights Theme; Entries Invited Nationwide
The National Human Rights Commission has announced the Short Film Competition 2026 on the theme of human rights, inviting nationwide entries. Cash prizes up to 2 lakh rupees, trophies, and certificates will be awarded. Films of 3–10 minutes in Indian languages with English subtitles can be submitted online by 30 June, encouraging creative awareness on human rights issues.
He informed that all citizens are eligible to participate in the competition by submitting their entries through online mode. The competition offers substantial cash rewards along with trophies and certificates. The first prize winner will receive an amount of 200,000 rupees, the second prize winner will be awarded 150,000 rupees, and the third prize winner will receive 100,000 rupees, each accompanied by a trophy and a certificate of recognition.
In addition, based on the recommendation of the jury panel, up to four films may be awarded special mention certificates along with a cash prize of 50,000 rupees each.
The duration of each short film must be a minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum of 10 minutes. Entries may be produced in Hindi, English, or any Indian language; however, English subtitles are mandatory for all submissionsto ensure wider accessibility and evaluation standards.
The Deputy Commissioner further stated that interested participants must submit their entries by 30 June through online mode, using a Google Drive link sent via the official National Human Rights Commission short film submission email channel. The initiative is expected to encourage creative expression on human rights issues, providing a national platform for filmmakers to highlight social awareness, constitutional values, and humanitarian themes through the powerful medium of short films.
