India Convenes Three-Day Heads of Mission Conference Amid Strait of Hormuz Disruption

India convenes a three-day Heads of Mission conference in New Delhi from April 28–30 amid Strait of Hormuz disruption. PM Narendra Modi, top diplomats, and security officials to assess geopolitics, West Asia crisis, and global strategic challenges.

Amid a complete halt in the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, India has convened a three-day Heads of Mission conference, bringing together all its ambassadors, high commissioners, and diplomats stationed across the world. The high-level conference will be held in New Delhi from April 28 to April 30, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to address the gathering on the final day.

According to a report by HT, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in deliberations with Indian diplomats on April 30, focusing on the evolving geopolitics. During the conference, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Secretary (Economic Relations) Sudhakar Dalela will present before the Prime Minister, outlining how the Ministry of External Affairs is implementing India’s diplomatic priorities on the ground amid the current geopolitical landscape.

The conference assumes heightened significance due to recent difficulties faced by Indian vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Attention is firmly fixed on the message Prime Minister Narendra Modi will convey, particularly to diplomats posted in Gulf countries and West Asia, in light of the ongoing geopolitical developments. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval will also engage with diplomats, sharing national security plans and priorities.

The importance of the conference is further amplified by the West Asia crisis, as Pakistan, described as a hub of terrorism, is attempting to position itself as a peacemaker on the global stage. Additionally, Pakistan has been working to strengthen its defence ties with Gulf nations such as Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
