Mumbai Corporate Telecaller Harassment Case: Obscene Messaging Allegations Trigger Arrest in Agaripada Police Action

A Mumbai corporate telecaller has accused her colleague of sending obscene messages, leading to his arrest by Agaripada Police under BNS and IT Act provisions. The case adds to ongoing concerns over workplace harassment in Maharashtra, alongside related allegations emerging from Nashik’s TCS BPO unit under investigation.

A serious case of alleged workplace harassment has surfaced in Maharashtra, intensifying ongoing concerns over employee safety in corporate environments, including an already sensitive situation in Nashik’s TCS BPO unit. In a separate development in Mumbai, a Hindu woman working as a third-party telecaller in a large corporate company has accused her Muslim colleague of sending her obscene messages, leading to police action and arrest.

According to information, the woman is employed as a third-party telecaller in a major corporate firm in Mumbai. She alleged that her co-worker, identified as Ashraf, repeatedly sent her obscene messages. Acting on her complaint, the Agaripada Police registered a case under sections 75, 78(2), and 70 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with provisions of the IT Act 2000. Police confirmed that the accused, Ashraf, has been arrested in connection with the case.

As per the victim’s statement recorded by the police, the accused not only sent multiple messages proposing sexual relations but also used derogatory language about her female colleagues and shared obscene images. The complaint further states that when the victim informed the accused that she is Hindu, he allegedly responded that “Hindu girls nowadays prefer Muslims.”

The incident has emerged at a time when Maharashtra is already witnessing heightened political discourse around workplace conduct and alleged targeting of Hindu women in corporate environments. The issue of “corporate jihad” is reportedly being debated in political circles, particularly in connection with a separate case involving the TCS BPO unit in Nashik, where allegations have been made regarding Hindu women being targeted. That matter is currently under investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), along with review by TCS management.
