Amit Shah Claims Record-Breaking Voting in West Bengal, Predicts BJP Majority

Union Home Minister Amit Shah claims record-breaking voter turnout in West Bengal Assembly elections, predicts BJP victory with 110 seats, and targets Mamata Banerjee while urging fearless voting in the next phase and promising development, security, and anti-corruption measures.

Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, addressed the media regarding the West Bengal Assembly elections, commending the people of Bengal for record-breaking voter turnout. He stated that all previous voting records for the first phase have been surpassed and emphasized that the voting reflected a clear mandate for change in the state.

Shah asserted that the polling process remained peaceful and secure, adding that the Bharatiya Janata Party is heading toward a decisive majority in Bengal. He underlined that the public has voted for transformation, clarifying that “parivartan” does not merely signify a change of Chief Minister but represents accelerated development.

Declaring confidence in his party’s performance, Shah said that internal assessments by the BJP indicate victory in 110 out of 152 seats. He further stated that development will expand across eastern and western India, adding that fear will be replaced by trust. In a direct political attack, he remarked that “Didi is going, BJP is coming,” referring to current Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Addressing voters ahead of the second phase, Shah urged citizens to cast their votes freely and without fear. He stated that the next Chief Minister of Bengal will be a resident of the state and accused Mamata Banerjee of spreading misinformation. He added that after May 5, women in Bengal will be able to step out freely, “nephew tax” will end, and extortion syndicates will be dismantled. Shah also pledged investigations into corruption and strict punishment for those found guilty.
