Owaisi Offers Alliance to SP, Congress to Stop Yogi From Becoming UP CM Again

Asaduddin Owaisi offers an alliance to the Samajwadi Party and Congress ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, saying AIMIM wants to prevent Yogi Adityanath from returning as Chief Minister for a third time.

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has offered to join hands with the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, saying his party is ready to work with any political force seeking to prevent Yogi Adityanath from becoming Chief Minister for a third time. His remarks came after he criticised both parties during a public meeting in Kairana and later addressed the issue of a possible alliance in Shamli.

Speaking in Shamli, Owaisi said the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) did not want to see Yogi Adityanath return as Chief Minister. He made it clear that his party was prepared to join forces with parties that wanted to prevent such an outcome.

Owaisi also referred to his party's efforts to form an alliance with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress in Bihar, claiming that both parties had rejected its offer. He said AIMIM had attempted to reach an understanding with the opposition parties there but did not receive a favourable response.

'The Issue Will Not Be Resolved Until Abdul Becomes a Leader'

Emphasising the need for Muslim political representation, Owaisi said the issues affecting the community would not be resolved until Abdul became a leader. He reiterated that AIMIM was willing to cooperate with parties seeking to prevent Yogi Adityanath from becoming Chief Minister for a third time.

Owaisi Accuses Akhilesh Yadav of Speaking BJP and RSS Language

Earlier, while addressing a rally in Kairana, Owaisi launched a sharp attack on Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. Reacting angrily to being compared with Ravana, Owaisi accused Yadav of speaking the language of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Owaisi also questioned the political accountability of the Samajwadi Party, saying that if the party secured 90 per cent of Muslim votes, it would be the SP that would have to answer questions.

His criticism of Akhilesh Yadav came alongside his broader appeal for greater Muslim representation in political leadership and his willingness to explore an electoral understanding with opposition parties.

Why Have Opposition Parties Avoided Giving Positive Signals?

Owaisi had previously proposed an alliance with major opposition parties, including the Samajwadi Party and Congress, to prevent the BJP from returning to power in Uttar Pradesh. He had set October 2 as the deadline for a response on the alliance proposal, but the major opposition parties did not offer any positive indication.

The SP and other opposition parties had been reluctant to join hands with AIMIM. They reportedly viewed the party as contributing to vote polarisation and regarded it as a potential vote-splitter.

When Akhilesh Yadav was subsequently asked about the possibility of an alliance, he said the Samajwadi Party would work to carry forward the same alliance that had defeated the BJP.

The differences over a possible electoral arrangement have continued to shape the political exchanges between Owaisi and the SP leadership, with Muslim votes and representation emerging as central issues in their public statements.

Meanwhile, Owaisi has also made a significant statement regarding the INDIA bloc's rally scheduled to take place at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on November 1. He said he had nothing to do with the rally. He has also targeted Muslim leaders within the Samajwadi Party, adding another dimension to his criticism of the opposition ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
