Madrid created opportunities throughout the game but failed to find a breakthrough. Betis remained in contention before Parrott reacted quickest to a rebound in the 81st minute, giving his side the lead with his first goal for the club.
Madrid were handed a late chance to equalize when Vinicius Junior was fouled inside the penalty area, resulting in a penalty. However, Valles denied Mbappe from the spot to preserve Betis' advantage. Officials later confirmed that defender Marc Bartra's foot was inside the box.
Arda Guler was Madrid's brightest performer despite the defeat. He created chances and completed more than 90% of his passes before being substituted.
The 1-0 result leaves Betis and Madrid level on points after four La Liga matches, with Parrott's late winner and Valles' penalty save proving decisive.
