Generac Launches Business and Technology Centre in Pune to Accelerate Global Capability Expansion in India
Generac has inaugurated its Business and Technology Centre in Pune, its first Global Capability Centre in India. The 21,494-square-foot facility will host over 150 professionals supporting engineering, technology and business operations. Designed by TOA, it features sustainable infrastructure and strengthens India's role in Generac's global innovation ecosystem.
The centre spans 21,494 square feet and has been designed to accommodate more than 150 professionals. It will function as a key operational hub supporting engineering development, technology advancement, and business operations across Generac’s global network. Over time, the facility is expected to evolve into a Centre of Excellence for selected engineering disciplines, enabling the development of specialized expertise that can be leveraged worldwide.
India was selected following an extensive evaluation of global talent markets, with Pune emerging as the preferred location due to its strong engineering ecosystem and deep manufacturing expertise. The city’s talent pool closely aligns with Generac’s core focus areas, including power generation, energy management, and advanced technology development.
Shyam Sunder, Vice President – Global Business and Technology Center, Generac India, stated that the launch represents a significant milestone in the company’s international growth strategy. He noted that the India-based Global Capability Centre will play a critical role in strengthening Generac’s technology, engineering, and business functions, while also contributing to leadership development and long-term innovation objectives.
The facility has been designed by architecture and workplace design firm TOA, incorporating modern workplace principles with scalability and functionality. It includes collaborative zones, quiet workspaces, flexible meeting rooms, and technology-enabled infrastructure aimed at enhancing productivity and employee engagement.
Sustainability has been integrated into the design through sensor-based energy management systems, energy-efficient lighting, acoustic PET panels, and durable construction materials selected for long-term operational efficiency. The facility is also equipped with digital access controls and smart security systems to improve workplace safety and operational experience.
According to Aditya Yamsanwar, Director at TOA, the project reflects the evolving role of Global Capability Centres within multinational organizations. He highlighted that such centres are increasingly becoming engines of innovation and strategic growth, and emphasized that the design prioritizes collaboration, adaptability, employee well-being, and future expansion capability.
The inauguration of the Pune centre underscores Generac’s confidence in India’s engineering talent ecosystem and its growing importance in the company’s global operations. With investments in advanced infrastructure and specialized capabilities, the company aims to build a platform that supports innovation, enhances business resilience, and drives long-term global growth.
