Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the NITI Aayog Governing Council Meeting in New Delhi, emphasized youth empowerment, quality education, skilling, employment, and cooperative federalism as key drivers for Viksit Bharat by 2047. The meeting focused on inclusive human development, MSME growth, and policy coordination for national transformation.
Chairing the Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog in New Delhi, the Prime Minister called for the creation of a robust and supportive ecosystem through quality education, demand-driven skill development, and enhanced employment opportunities.
He emphasized that India’s demographic dividend represents a historic opportunity that must not be wasted. “India’s demographic dividend is a historic opportunity that we cannot afford to lose. Creating the right ecosystem for our youth through quality education, demand-driven skilling and employment opportunities must remain a priority. Empowered youth will be the driving force behind our journey towards Viksit Bharat,” he stated.
The Prime Minister also underscored the importance of Free Trade Agreements in expanding economic opportunities and strengthening export capacity. He noted that such agreements provide significant prospects for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises by enabling access to global markets and improving their competitiveness in line with international standards.
Highlighting the broader governance approach, he stressed the importance of cooperative federalism in achieving long-term development goals. He said that coordinated efforts between the central government and state governments are essential to realize the vision of a developed India.
“Guided by the spirit of cooperative federalism, we are working together to accelerate India’s development journey. The collective efforts of the Centre and States will play a pivotal role in realising our shared vision of Viksit Bharat,” he said.
According to an official statement, this year’s Governing Council Meeting is centered on the theme “Inclusive Human Development for Viksit Bharat @2047,” focusing on the welfare and development of every citizen regardless of age, region, gender, or socio-economic background.
The meeting is deliberating strategies to convert this vision into measurable outcomes nationwide. Chief Ministers, Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories, Union Ministers, and senior government officials are participating in the discussions.
Deliberations are structured around four key pillars of the Inclusive Human Development Framework: foundational human capital and future-ready skills; productive employment, entrepreneurship, and decentralized growth; health, nutrition, and wellbeing; and equity and dignity for all.
The discussions also focus on strengthening entrepreneurship, enhancing skill development initiatives, and generating sustainable employment opportunities across the country.
The official statement further noted that the meeting is expected to outline an implementation roadmap supported by governance reforms, Digital Public Infrastructure, institutional partnerships, convergence mechanisms, and data-driven systems, along with monitoring frameworks for short-term, medium-term, and long-term outcomes.
The Governing Council Meeting thus emerges as a critical platform aligning national and state priorities toward a coordinated development strategy aimed at achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047.
