Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become India’s longest-serving continuously elected Prime Minister, surpassing Jawaharlal Nehru’s post-1952 record of 4,398 days during a National Democratic Alliance gathering at Bharat Mandapam, marking 12 years in office.
The milestone was acknowledged during the gathering attended by senior alliance leaders, including N. Chandrababu Naidu and Devendra Fadnavis. A formal resolution was passed by alliance partners praising Modi’s “Nation First” leadership, underscoring the coalition’s endorsement of his governance model and political direction.
The Union Cabinet also marked the milestone dated June 10, 2026, recognizing the significance of the occasion in the context of the government’s continued tenure and administrative continuity.
Amid the formal proceedings, a lighter moment unfolded when leaders shared a spiced puffed rice snack offered by Suvendu Adhikari. Prime Minister Modi later referenced the moment on social media, describing it as a “snack break,” drawing attention to the informal interaction during the political gathering.
In his address, Modi attributed his government’s stability and reform trajectory to sustained public support. He also reiterated criticism of previous Congress-led policies while highlighting what he described as consistent progress under his administration.
