SEBI’s NISM and Galgotias University Forge Strategic Partnership to Advance Fintech and Capital Markets Education
The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), established by SEBI, has partnered with Galgotias University to strengthen fintech, capital markets, securities markets, and financial services education. The collaboration will provide students with certifications, industry-aligned learning, faculty development, and practical exposure to investment ecosystems, risk management, and emerging financial technologies.
The collaboration comes at a time when finance, technology, artificial intelligence, analytics, digital payments, and investment platforms are increasingly converging across industries and startup ecosystems. As businesses seek professionals with expertise in market structures, financial instruments, regulatory frameworks, investment behaviour, and capital flows, the initiative aims to equip students with industry-relevant knowledge alongside technological and business competencies.
Galgotias University has been strengthening its academic ecosystem through industry-linked programmes, entrepreneurship initiatives, interdisciplinary learning, and applied training opportunities focused on business and financial technology. Supporting this vision are the University’s School of Business and the Centre for Capital Market Simulation, which provide students with greater exposure to financial systems, investment ecosystems, and market behaviour.
The Centre for Capital Market Simulation operates within the School of Finance and Commerce and features the NSE SMART Lab, established in collaboration with NSE Academy. The facility enables students to engage with capital market concepts, simulated trading environments, and the NSMART platform, offering exposure to real-time market scenarios within a risk-free academic setting.
The collaboration is expected to benefit students from a wide range of academic disciplines, including business, commerce, economics, management, engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, and analytics. It is also expected to support aspiring entrepreneurs and founders of technology-driven ventures by providing deeper insights into financial systems, investment structures, market dynamics, regulatory requirements, fundraising mechanisms, and long-term business growth strategies.
Under the partnership, students will gain access to NISM certifications, e-learning modules, certification-linked learning pathways, and academic support in specialised areas such as securities markets, mutual funds, equity derivatives, investment advisory services, merchant banking, portfolio management services, research analysis, securities operations, and risk management.
Commenting on the collaboration, Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, Chief Executive Officer of Galgotias University, stated that the growing convergence of technology and finance across sectors, including digital payments, financial technology platforms, investment ecosystems, analytics, and startup environments, requires students to develop a stronger understanding of financial systems and market structures regardless of their academic discipline. He noted that technology entrepreneurs often need a deeper understanding of capital markets, investment behaviour, regulatory frameworks, and financial strategy to successfully scale their businesses. According to him, the collaboration with NISM will provide students with structured certifications, practical learning opportunities, and stronger engagement with the financial sector.
As part of the arrangement, NISM will support participating students and faculty members through learning resources, e-learning programmes, faculty development initiatives, assessment support, and opportunities for interaction with industry experts. Faculty development programmes, expert-led sessions, and academic integration support will also form a key component of the engagement.
The collaboration further reinforces Galgotias University’s commitment to industry-linked education, interdisciplinary skill development, and preparing students for emerging opportunities across financial services, financial technology, analytics, consulting, investment research, and capital markets. The partnership is expected to create a stronger bridge between academia and the evolving financial sector, enhancing career readiness and professional competencies among future graduates.
