CBSE Rejects Hacking Claims in On-Screen Marking System, Confirms No Security Breach
CBSE has denied claims of a hacking incident in its On-Screen Marking system, calling the alleged vulnerabilities baseless and confirming no breach of live data. The Board clarified that the flagged portal is a test environment, while 11.3 lakh requests were processed securely amid rising concerns over evaluation errors and system reliability issues.
The Board categorically denied these allegations, stating that the portal referenced in viral social media posts, identified as cbse.onmarks.co.in, is a controlled testing environment containing only sample data used for internal evaluation checks and system reviews. CBSE emphasized that the platform does not host any real examination data, student information, or official marks.
CBSE further confirmed that no breach has been detected in its live assessment infrastructure. According to the Board, 11.3 lakh answer book copy requests have been received and processed this year through the system, reinforcing its claim that operations have continued without any compromise to data security or integrity.
Despite these assurances, concerns among parents and students continue to intensify. Multiple complaints have been reported regarding blurred scanned answer sheets, missed step-marking during evaluation, mismatched scripts, and payment-related glitches during the post-result processes. These issues have contributed to growing scrutiny of the digital evaluation framework.
The matter is expected to be examined by a Parliamentary panel on June 1, 2026, where representatives from CBSE and the Ministry of Education will be questioned on the functioning of the On-Screen Marking system as well as the Class 9 to 10 language policy.
The developments have placed renewed attention on the transparency, reliability, and accountability of large-scale digital examination and evaluation systems in India, as stakeholders await further official review outcomes.
