Amit Shah Visits Sanchu Border Post, Praises BSF Bravery and Launches Major Border Village Development Initiative in Rajasthan
Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the historic Sanchu border post and praised the bravery of the Border Security Force during Operation Sindoor. He also launched the Vibrant Village Programme-2 for 184 border villages in Rajasthan, focusing on infrastructure, connectivity, tourism, employment, and national security along the India-Pakistan border.
Addressing personnel and officials during the visit, Shah said the security apparatus along the border must remain alert to every threat originating across the frontier and respond with firmness and determination. Describing Sanchu as a historic border post, he recalled Pakistan’s earlier attempts to capture the position and said Indian soldiers had delivered a decisive and forceful response.
The Home Minister also praised the courage and commitment displayed by the Border Security Force during Operation Sindoor. He stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India’s national security framework had undergone transformational changes over the past several years. Shah said the armed forces and the Border Security Force were being rapidly modernised to strengthen the country’s defence preparedness.
Highlighting the sacrifices made by security personnel guarding the nation’s borders, Shah said the martyrdom of 200 fallen border guards remained a debt owed by 1.4 billion Indians and would always be remembered with honour and gratitude.
During the visit, the Union Home Minister also dedicated the Vibrant Village Programme-2 to the border regions. The initiative aims to expand essential infrastructure and public facilities in villages located along the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan. The programme will focus on strengthening education, road connectivity, electricity supply, mobile network access, tourism infrastructure, and employment opportunities in the remote border belt.
Under the scheme, smart classrooms, tourism circuits, community development projects, self-employment programmes, self-help groups, and cooperative societies will be established to generate local employment and improve living standards in the region.
A total of 184 border villages across Rajasthan have been included under the second phase of the programme. The selected villages are located in the districts of Sri Ganganagar, Barmer, Bikaner, and Jaisalmer. Authorities will prioritise the development of road connectivity, fourth-generation mobile network services, television connectivity, and electricity infrastructure in these areas.
To ensure effective implementation of the programme, the central government has constituted a high-level committee that will coordinate with multiple departments and monitor development activities across the border districts.
The initiative is being seen as a major step towards strengthening border infrastructure, improving economic self-reliance, and enhancing the overall socio-economic conditions of residents living in India’s frontier regions.
