Sources claim that during the meetings, Siddaramaiah was offered a proposal to move to the Rajya Sabha and assume a national role, effectively vacating the Chief Minister’s position. However, he has reportedly expressed disinterest in shifting to national politics and has not agreed to the proposal. According to insiders, he is expected to take a final decision by Thursday.
Reports further indicate that Siddaramaiah was not given extensive opportunity to present his position during the discussions, with the high command conveying its directive regarding a leadership transition. Following the meeting, he reportedly met senior ministers to review the developments and assess the political situation.
Meanwhile, DK Shivakumar is said to have postponed his return to Bengaluru and continues to remain in Delhi amid ongoing consultations. A possible breakfast meeting between Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah is also being discussed in political circles, which could prove crucial in determining the next steps in the leadership transition.
Although speculation continues to intensify, there has been no official confirmation from the Congress party regarding any change in leadership. The situation remains fluid as all eyes remain on the party high command’s final decision regarding Karnataka’s top political post.
