Reacting to the outcome, Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia described the victory as a reflection of public support and confidence. He stated that the mandate represents the blessings of the people and expressed strong confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party will form the government in Assam for a third consecutive term. He further emphasized that the electorate has delivered a historic verdict in favor of the party, while noting that the leadership will continue to await the final results.
Assam, which has a total of 126 Assembly constituencies, recorded polling for all seats on April 9. The elections witnessed a high voter turnout exceeding 85 percent, indicating strong public participation in the democratic process. The Bharatiya Janata Party, contesting under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, entered the electoral contest with confidence in securing a third straight term in power.
On the other hand, the Congress party had been striving to end its decade-long absence from power in the state and was hopeful of a resurgence. However, the defeat in key constituencies like Jorhat has dealt a serious setback to its campaign.
