Mumbai’s Commuter Revolution: First Non-AC Local with Automatic Doors Arrives at Kurla

The infrastructure of the new train features significant internal enhancements, including upgraded compartments, expanded seating space, and dedicated room for luggage, all designed to render everyday travel more efficient and comfortable. Structurally, the rake is composed of six-coach units interconnected through vestibules, a modern design choice that facilitates easier movement between compartments while maintaining familiarity for daily commuters. Addressing the critical challenge of ventilation in a closed-door environment, the train is outfitted with high-capacity blowers supplying 10,000 cubic metres of air per hour, complemented by overhead glass panels and louvered designs to further enhance airflow.

Operational integrity remains a priority as officials have confirmed the train will be introduced for public use only after final trials are completed. These tests will ensure operational readiness and passenger safety before full-scale deployment. While the automatic door closure system stands as the primary technological highlight, the train maintains traditional social infrastructure by including designated coaches for women and first-class passengers.
